Second Challenge

[ I'm sure you all know this look. It's a look of a sort of disappointed annoyance. It's that look your friends give you when you tell the same pun for the third time and still expect it to be funny. It was never funny. Just give up already. ]

After being here a week, I've come to a few realizations.

There's no hierarchy, no discipline, no real control, and the vast majority of the people on and off of the ship (although I still don't understand how that works) are out of your blasted minds. The Admiral in all likelihood is actually a trickster god, either the Trickster himself in disguise or one of the lesser gods. People seem to be concerned about their deals being upheld, but I can assure you that the gods never renege on a promise. Not even the Trickster himself. I have yet to get anything productive done. This may be the cause of the large amount of insanity I've noticed seems to be going around.

I can work with this.

But if I don't have something useful to do in the next two days, you're all going to be in for quite a show.

There are areas in which you could offer your time. The infirmary, the laboratory, the gym, to name a few.

I've been trying to find a way to see what's going on at home, figure out how this place works, and how I can help. So far I haven't found anything particularly uplifting.

I do have to admit that I wouldn't mind knowing for certain that nothing back at the station has gone horribly wrong without me...

What have you found, though? Even if it is depressing. I'm new myself, and I think there's merit in knowing anything, even if it turns out to be unimportant. You can always forget it again later.

I...also must admit that I find myself interested in seeing what kind of show an anxious knight puts on when she's had a bit to drink. I saw Buffalo Bill's Wild West show, and it was very gripping, even before that man got murdered. I also saw The Great Farini fire a man out of a cannon, although I've since been told she was actually a woman. I'm not sure why he didn't just say so; that seems even more impressive.
